Hello, I’m kinda sorta new here. I’ve been for a while now, but decided to post something finally.

I already have some grasp on Japanese (I’m holding on with my pinky finger kind of grasp), which is one of the reasons I’m learning Japanese. Here are my top 4 reasons for learning Japanese.

    1. I love languages and for an English speaker Japanese is one of the hardest. I love challenges so I started learning Japanese.

    2. I love Asian cultures from traveling through China, crashing through the endless amount of Korean Dramas, drowning in anime, and even watching Bollywood movies I can’t get enough. I’ve always loved studying different cultures (in high school I knew so much about Egypt I could put Egyptologist to shame), but in the last 3 years Asian cultures have been my drug.

    3. I’ve started learning Japanese and now I want Fluency more than ever. It’s all I ever think about now. I MUST HAVE IT!

    4. Here is my main reason. I really really really want to live in Japan and teach people the beauty of my own language: English. I understand I don’t have to speak Japanese to teach English to Japanese speakers, but I know from experience that if you don’t speak a native speakers language well enough you don’t understand why they are having problems with something that is common sense to you. I don’t want to just be a good teacher, but revolutionary, so I’ll start by learning Japanese.

    Welcome to TextFugu!

Even if you didn’t need it to teach them, it’s always a good idea to be able to speak the language of the country you’re living in. ^_^

In case you haven’t seen them:

Check out this thread for some tips on organizing Anki 2 with the early chapters of TextFugu:

You can also use the following thread to track your progress and share your ideas/concerns when you finish a season (gain a level ^_^):

And here is a thread with a list of additional Japanese resources you may find helpful:
