    Hi!

I’m currently in the process of moving to Okinawa Japan, as of now I see myself living there for a minimum of 3 years due to my husband’s military job. I know there are going to be bases etc where people will speak English but I see this as a great opportunity to throw myself into another language again, I learned English when I was 11 after moving to the states from Costa Rica and remember the frustrations, but also the reward. I know Japanese is not going to be an easy language to learn but either way I’m very excited about this process, still feel a bit overwhelmed as to where to start with my learning since I made the mistake of buying so many random books but right now I’m trying to learn Hiragana. Either way, looking forward to interacting with ya’ll. -Lili

    Welcome!

Supposedly the three hardest languages to learn are English, Arabic and Japanese – and hey, you’ve already mastered English, so what’s one more on that list? =)

One thing about Okinawa is that it’s got probably one of the strongest dialects in Japanese. They’ll understand standard Japanese fine, but when you get better at Japanese, you might want to look into learning about the Okinawan dialect too.

I’ve been looking for some insights about the okinawa dialect and it seems like they even pronounce numbers differently, either way, like you said I’ll wait to get to the point where I understand Japanese first before getting to deep into the differences, I’m really excited about this process though :)
