Hi fellow students!
I’m a marketing professional in the San Francisco bay area who is trying to reacquaint himself with Japanese. Because I work full-time, I don’t have time for night or weekend classes and needed a way to study at times most convenient to me. I stumbled across Textfugu after doing an online search for the terms “Japanese self-study.” After trying out Season 1, I decided to take the plunge and upgrade.
I studied Japanese a bit in college (which was a few years ago), but only got to the second semester before I got lazy. So very little kanji was learned, and most of the vocabulary, hiragana and katakana were forgotten. Hiragana42 allowed me to quickly re-memorize hiragana, which was awesome.
I’d like to someday visit Japan and possibly even land a job there before I get too old and give up that dream. Hoping Japanese fluency plus my marketing experience can someday land me an opportunity with an international company. If I become advanced enough, maybe even try for a translating job, but who knows!
My hobbies include reading and watching horror books and movies (huge Stephen King fan), making up songs about my cat Gimli, eating curry (Japanese, Thai, Indian, love them all), Akira Kurosawa films, drinking dark beers, and going to live concerts when I have the energy.
Looking forward to learning Japanese with all of you!
