Hi! I’m Mats from Stockholm, Sweden. I make music for a living. In about a week I’m going to Japan for the first time, I will stay for five weeks. A dream come true, finally! Took me 30 years, but now I’m going! Don’t really have any friends over there, apart from maybe two Japanese people I have met in other corners of the world.
I love languages in general and Japanese seems like such a fun language to learn. I am a complete beginner but I have managed to learn all the hiragana this week before I started this course! I wish to be able to casually mingle in Japan at some point. Albeit with the vocabulary of a three year old – I don’t mind being bad at a language when meeting new people, it is usually really fun. At least for now, maybe by the end of this trip, I would love to be able to read some signs and communicate with people a little bit, just generally understand what is going on without resorting to english!
Hopefully I will get a chance to go back many more times after this and hone my skills some more!
Looking forward to learning alongside you guys! Maybe I will even get to help someone out with their Japanese some day!
Best of luck to you all and see you in the forums!
Kind regards,
Mats
