Hi everyone!
Even though I’ve joined nearly over half a year ago I realized I never introduced myself!
I’m Samantha, or Cy-V, (Cy from cyber, V like you would pronounce it when saying your ABC’s). I’m 24 years old and just moved to Zoetermeer (a town near The Hague) to be closer to friends. A catlady to-be, I live here with four cats (who are still afraid to go outside, so it’s a bit crowded here) even though I’m still fixing up the house. In my previous house I was a couchsurfing host and one of my guests told me I’d be a perfect 50′s housewife, if I weren’t such a feminist.
I bake, I cook, I sow, knit, crochet, garden and even occasionally enjoy doing house chores. But I also participate in discussions and walk in protests. I should definitely do that in a traditional 50′s outfit, now I think of it. Marching in high heels seems like a pain though, but I digress.I started to try and learn Japanese when I was just 13, but I only turned serious last year, when I found this website. But pretty soon I ran out of the free lessons so I had to save up for the rest, but my friend gifted me those for my birthday! Because of the move I only just started to study again, damn shame. Luckily I can just pick it up again! I’m more motivated here then I was with other methods/textbooks.
At first I wanted to learn out of general interest, followed by a business sense two years ago, now just powered by the same urge I had since I was a wee little girl.
Every wish-opportunity I had when growing up was reserved for the same wish (you know, shooting stars, rainbows, birthday candles, etc): I wanted to able to read, write, understand, speak and …there was another word.. Well, ALL the languages in the world, so I could talk to everyone and help those that couldn’t understand each other. It just seemed silly to me that everyone spoke a different language, and in some ways it still does. So, an aspiring polyglot here. I’ve had French, German and English in high school (“The Dutch speak four languages and smoke marihuana!!”) though my French is poor at best at the moment, but I will address that later. So…Yeah. That’s me.
If you’re on this forum and live relatively nearby, or just live in the NL, please send me a message! It would be fun to know that others are studying here to, and a study-buddy would be even sweeter.

Good luck with your studies!

I thought I did too! But apparently not, so made sure I did now ;-) Extra motivation/ideas is always nice, and I think if you’re on a forum you should introduce yourself! And thanks =)

I’ve recently learned knitting. It’s such fun! Getting to create something from a ball of yarn is so rewarding…
Anyways, welcome to the forum! Good luck with all of your studies!
