Hello! I’m Max, originally from New York State. I’m here in Japan for work with the US military, but might end up staying here because I love it so much. I’m learning Japanese because I’m living in Japan right now, and want to feel more comfortable getting around and communicating at restaurants, shops, tourist stuff, as well as just being able to make friends and meet new people. I’m very social so this is very important to me.
I’d also consider working in Japan one day, or working with a Japanese company overseas, or in some way being involved with the Japanese language in my profession, so this is also important to me for financial reasons.
    Looking forward to getting started!

Welcome! We seem to be getting a rush of people who are in Japan. =P

Yokohama or Yokosuka? Cause there’s a few other people here on TextFugu who are stationed at Yokosuka, though I’ve completely forgotten who. One of them joined fairly recently, too. I really should start making a list so I can play study-buddy cupid, or something. =)

Hey Joel! I’m living in Yokohama, but work in Yokosuka on the Ronald Reagan. Would definitely be interested in a study buddy to practice with.

Sadly, Googling revealed that the last use of the word “Yokosuka” in this forum was longer ago than I remember it being. Most recent was from this thread in January last year – though he does say he’d be there for three years, there’s no mention of the navy. Guess I can try posting to the thread and see if he’s still got e-mail notifications active. =)

(The navy does get a mention in this thread, but that was from 2012.)

Could have sworn there were more than that, though. Guess that’s why I should start making a list…
