Hello all who read this,
My name is David and I have recently started learning Japanese (obviously).
I am currently a Caretaker at my locate University, The university of central Lancashire or UCLan for short. I like many things in life but I must say I am very much into my anime, probably all main stream like bleach, Naruto, one piece and the rest but anime none the less. This is one of the main reasons I have always wanted to learn Japanese, because really who wants to HAVE to read subtitles all the time? Not me. As I have gotten older and learned more about the world Japan stood out and has always fascinated me, such a beautiful place whether that be the country side or in the cities or towns its always look amazing to me. The cutler and the people seem awesome to crazy foods and daily practises that are so extreme compared to my own (English culture) it is just all truly astounding and the innovation to come out of the Japanese people is on a whole other level I truly believe we could give anything to japan and they would give it us back 10x better or twice as small. anyway i digress, learning japans as always been something I secretly wanted to do somewhere deep down and honestly I never truly believed I could do it, that is where Koichi came in with this wonderful idea and Textfugu and within 2 months I can read and pronounce Hiragana and with a confidence to which I find amazing! Now I am sat here thinking I have learnt all that and it was free! So what will I learn now I have decided to contribute and to be honest I am excited to see. so as a round off I would like to say a massive thank you to Koichi and anyone who helped him bring this wonderful site into the world and also to the creators of Anki as they have been a massive help well worth the £18 mobile app to assist the computer app, and finally a huge HELLO to my fellow students and mentors here at Textfugu as I look forward to working and hopefully helping in the future. I thank you all.July 26, 2014 at 8:55 pm #46064Hello David,
Welcome here ^_^
I’almost mad the same way to japanese like you first Anime, I think, then the rest of the culture, and there I found out, that I unconsciously were in love with japanese thinks whithout knowing that those thinks were japanese, not only asian :-P
For now, I don’t watch anymore that much Anime as some Years ago, but I love to watch Ghibli Films and other Animefilms like Summerwars.
I loved the Mangas and Animes from Clamp. And one of my other favorite Anime is “twelwe Kindoms” (じゅうにこっき)
Watching Anime without having to read the subtitle would be awsome :)July 28, 2014 at 6:12 am #46072Hello Nadine,
It is refreshing to see others with the same inspirations as me to learn Japanese. I have not heard of ghibli films or summerwars but I’ll be sure to look into them as I am always interested in trying new things, twelve kingdoms rings a bell though and I honestly can’t remember why I forgot about it I’ll be watching that tonight for sure :D . Thank you for taking the time to respond it has been a pleasure meeting you.
David.
July 28, 2014 at 10:39 pm #46093Hello David,
I also love to write with someone who like anime. I mostly know some of the non-main-stream animes. My friend always watch a lot of them and there is sometimes one that I like to watch with him. Or a friend who has a really huge collection of anime, showed me one, like: Magnitude 8 (that’s an anime about en earthquake in Tokyo)
Are you sure you never heard about Studio Ghibli? They made animefilms like Totoro, Nausika, Laputa, Ponyo and Howl’s moving castle.
Summerwars is also an animemovie, where the subject is a online network that goes wrong because of a virtual AI.Have a nice day,
