Hi! I’m Janno, from the Philippines. TextFugu newbie here.

I’ve been self-studying Japanese for about a month now, and I can say that I’m really having fun doing this. I got hooked to Japanese culture so easily through manga, anime, video games, and music. Though it may not be a good reason for some, those things actually made me want to study this language. You know, reading manga and watching anime without translations and subtitles…

TextFugu (actually, the entire Tofugu thing) charmed me from the moment I saw it. The interface is beautiful, and the posts and ideas are wacky and fun. I will be a freshman in med school starting next month, and I know that it will take up a huge chunk of my time (of course, if learning Japanese is a priority, then the “busy” excuse is NOT valid. Thanks, Season 1). I found TextFugu as a convenient choice for learning. I also have a problem studying without a clear guide, and that’s what got me hooked to TextFugu’s (super organized) format.

I have a good feeling that learning Japanese with TextFugu and this community will be a great experience. Looking forward to working with you guys!

Thank you, Monique! I also read your own introduction, and I must say that you have typed some really cute and creative emoticons there. :D Also, apparently there are a lot of us who got hooked to Japanese culture mainly because of anime, music, and manga. Hahaha don’t get me wrong, though. I believe Japan’s culture is still so awesome even without those (though they make it so much more awesome, definitely).

You too. Good luck with your Japanese studies. Huhu I also want to go to an exchange program someday. :))

Hahaha thank you! ヽ(;▽;)ノ I totally agree! They’ve created some really awesome things! Though I do have to say I love the culture in general heaps as well. :3 Ah thank you ~ and even though it’s a long time away, I’m still very excited! (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧
