    Hi there,
my name is Hannah and I’m from Germany. I’ve been studying Japanese for a while. I got a language course here at my university but this semester there was apparently no place left. So now I want to study on my own. I started by setting up a day (tuesdays) where I would have to do some stuff to study… but I never really did anything. But now I run across TextFugu (StumbleUpon by the way <3 ) and wow, I can’t stop.
The reason why I want to learn Japanese is because I want to go there for at least a year after finishing my master (one year left –> should be enough for 2000 kanji, right?). I’m interested in doing stuff that’s a bit odd. Going to Japan isn’t so unusual anymore but still not as popular as going to the US or Australia (from a german point of view). As I now completed my task of learning Swedish (0,1% of the worlds population speak Swedish, so one of the most useful languages) good enough, I have to move on to really get some grip on Japanese. Hopefully I’ll be ready to face Japan in about a year and made some new friends on the way.
    Cheers

Well… I could speak some Swedish after a few months and was pretty fluent after around a year. Now people don’t even hear that I’m from Germany. But the languages are pretty similar so it’s not that big of a deal.
