Hi. I recently downloaded the TextFugu Ultimate Vocab decks for Anki, but I noticed there’s a lot of problems with them. I’d like to just recreate all the cards from scratch using TextFugu’s templates, but I’d like to make a few changes to them. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about coding of any sort. I can figure out really simple things, but I’m having trouble with what I’m trying to accomplish…

First of all, each of the three templates generate multiple cards for each note. I’d like to make some of those “optional”, that way, I can have it generate a “Kanji to English” card ONLY if the particular word it’s for is commonly written in Kanji (currently, it still generates a card for those words, but it’s identical to the “Kana to English” type of card. Having two of the same card bothers me.)

On that note, I’d also like to make some of the fields optional. That way, it only displays Kanji on the other card types if I enter in Kanji in that field. (That is, for instance, in the “Kana to English” cards, on the back it also shows the word in Kanji in addition to the meaning, but only if that word HAS kanji entered into Anki. Otherwise I’d just like that part to be left blank.)

I tried to make this as clear as possible, but it’s really difficult for me to describe exactly what I’m trying to do. If anything was confusing, please let me know and I’ll clarify. Any help would be appreciated!
