Hi! / こんいちわ
I’m Jay, and, determined to have the proper TextFugu experience and learn Japanese correctly, I decided to say Hi and share my reasons with the TextFugu community, although haven’t used a forum in a long time.
I’m an English, eighteen year old guitarist who wants to learn Japanese.I’ve seen some of Koichi’s videos and stumbled upon this during my more recently heightened desire to learn Japanese and think it will be a brilliant resource and inspiration for me.
I have a few reasons for wanting to learn Japanese…
1. I enjoy the language and Japanese culture and would like to visit there, if not live there should the opportunity arise. I’ve always enjoyed the language and keep finding myself coming back to Japan. I’ve made vague half attempts at learning in the past but never got fully involved and ended up kinda forgetting about it.
2. I want to learn another language. A friend of mine has been learning German for a while and will be taking 3 languages at university. We often end up in language based conversations and I always find myself fascinated with the idea of learning language and there is no language I have more passion for than Japanese.
3. Moderately guilty that I haven’t got a more… defined, concrete reason for learning Japanese and not wanting use anime or Japanese music as a reason, reason 3 is wanting to be good enough in Japanese to read the assorted Young Guitar magazines I’ve collected. I’ve found these magazines and sheet music from Japan generally to be of a much higher quality compared to it’s western counterparts, with scores for albums notating all instruments as opposed to just guitar and vocals. I also enjoy some Japanese bands and have a selective love for Manga and Anime but try not to think of them as a main reason, so included as a little addition here.
So yeah, those are my reasons… ^^
