Hi everybody, my name is Tay. I’m a medical student looking for a way to stretch my mind outside of science/math-heavy med fundamentals, and learning Japanese is something I’ve always wanted to do. My two specific goals for Lesson 1′s starter questions are as follows:
1) I want to do medical volunteering in Japan (probably rural Japan) sometime after residency. I know next-to-nothing about what that would mean, but getting my MD and choosing a specialty is a good first step, and learning Japanese is a crucial step #2!
2) Beyond conversational and medical Japanese, my other goal is to be able to play the latest Persona video game in Japanese and understand it. Currently that’s Persona 5 (I haven’t played it in English, either, so no spoilers!), and I can already tell all the Subway kanji are going to be hell.
Looking forward to getting to know the community! Thanks for such a cool resource!
