    Hey all,

I’m learning Japanese because I’ve always thought everyone should be fluent in at least one language other than their native tongue. I chose Japanese because it’s fun and very interesting. I’m level 8 in Wanikani, use FluentU and am trying out Textfugu to see if I can use it to get my vocabulary improved.

    Welcome!

What’s FluentU? That’s not a name I’ve come across before.

    Thanks!
FluentU is a video based language learning platform. Here’s a link to the Japanese version: https://www.fluentu.com/japanese/

Huh, intriguing. I do need practice my listening skills. Like, a lot.

I think it has some good value for that. By itself, I found I was just memorizing phrases without understanding the “why” of anything. Combined with Wanikani and TextFugu, FluentU makes a lot more sense and it gives me an “in practice” view of the language.

I also like watching NHK News On Demand (VPN set to Japan required here in the U.S.). There’s a lot of supporting text displayed on the screen for the news topic being discussed.
