Although I’ve been on textfugu for quite some time, I’d like to reintroduce myself and say hello to all the fellow ‘fugus out there.

I’ve recently been ill for a long time and haven’t been studying Japanese..or French..or stuff ^^;. All that aside, my health has never been better, and I’m ready to get back on the saddle. I’d really like to meet more people, so say hi, I don’t bite.

So, when it comes to why I want to study Japanese, I guess it comes down to my favorite past times: food, fashion, tech, and art. And being a languaphile who studied French for 8 years probably helps! My dream is to become a polyglot, and my bucket list includes sketching fashions in Ginza and Shibuya as well as seeing anyone of my favorite artists in concert and eating lots of food. I’m pretty simple :P

I hope to find some kind of way to travel to Japan soon, so I plan on working hard!

I hope we can help each other out!

    Nice to meet you Callie!

Welcome back to Textfugu! I’ve been away quite a while myself doing various things for study, but have finally come back myself.

I really want to study/learn Japanese simply for the fascination of all of the different characters. I figured there are so many variations of Chinese, why not just go for the singular Japanese language? Plus, all of those added bonuses such as the culture, the anime, the tourist spots, and more. I really like it, and even though it sets me apart from my friends, it’s one of the best things I’ve considered as a hobby.

I’m merely a Junior in high school, but have been studying for a year now. I plan to visit Japan when I graduate my senior year (I’m currently working as well).

I suggest you visit Aikibujin’s threads to use with TextFugu that will help.

    Aaaa~ Hi Benjamin!

Oh don’t lower yourself like that! Although High School was a long time ago on my end, you are far more driven than I was! I’m a big dreamer so I wanted to somehow live the college life, study abroad twice, and hide a dog in my dorm. Haha maybe I’ll run into you in Japan this summer, I’m officially going on a trip. If you do go, let me know how it turns out for you please!

I must agree with you, as a visual person, ideographic languages get me all worked up haha. I once thought I’d like Chinese, but it doesn’t appeal to my ear. I’m also a musician, and I tend to not languages that don’t appeal to my ear like German and Chinese. I love Korean, and the other romance languages alone with French. I got into language through music/poetry; it’s how my French teacher drilled stuff in our head.

:3 and I also understand being set apart due to the hobby. It took 4 years to find one person at my school who loves Japan and doesn’t happen to “kind of like Samurai Champloo”. Granted, I’m into Dramas, but meh!

Welcome! I tend to waver back and forth between anime and drama. Currently I’m swinging over to the drama side of things. =)

why not just go for the singular Japanese language?
