    Hello hello!

I am Kitten the Cat from Sydney, Australia =) I’ve been trying to study Japanese on and off for 10-15 years now, I think? But I’ve never gotten past learning the kana and some basic words. Anyway I took the plunge again… by taking advantage of Textfugu’s 50% off! ^^ My goal is to be able to read manga without having to wait for translations… oh, and to shamelessly play otome games. Riiight.

So far I’m in the middle of season 2 and am having great fun ^^ I have to re-learn some stuff I already know but Textfugu makes everything so interesting again that I don’t mind it.

Hope to interact with more people so I don’t feel alone in this learning journey!

    Cheers~

Hi, welcome aboard! I started Textfugu partly because I was tired of lousy fansubs in anime and the wait for them…Anyway, hope you can make even larger and more leaps forward in your Japanese skills.

    Aloha and 今日は〜

Welcome. I’m Don from Hilo, Hawaii. I’ve studied Japanese many times on and off. I had thought about joining Textfugu several times, but the sale finally pushed me over the edge.

I’ve lived and worked in Japan a little. I know Osaka and the Kansai region the best. I’ve spent a lot of time in Kyoto also. I’ve been as far north as Sapporo in Hokkaido, and as far south as Miyajima (by Hiroshima). Someday I want to explore southern Japan.

Hilo is a very Japanese town, so I get to practice my Kanji in the local grocery store and new words with my neighbors. We put out Kadomatsu and visited Hilo Daijingu (the local shinto shrine) for New Years. I sometimes feel a bit left out with my poor vocabulary and terrible grammar. LOL

I use Japanese mostly for work and social — but I also enjoy manga like Aria, and Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. (yeah, slow sentimental stuff ^^;;)

Nice to meet all of you.

    - Don

Hello! I have a similar story except it has been only a year for me of piddling around.
I’m in the middle of season 2 also and my first big challenge since my brain does not want to wrap itself around the kun readings of the kanji. I’m creating some low tech index cards to carry and study all the time.
    Good luck!
