Hi, I’m Patrick (25)
I am from Kansas City, Missouri (almost literally the middle of the US) and currently make a living as a distribution center specialist (research and data analysis). After that I am primarily a musician and media consumer (music, movies, video games).I have been interested in Japan since I was a little kid. I have always wanted to live in japan for at least a year or two. I never had access to Japanese language tools and after a couple of ill conceived attempts at French and German in high school and middle school, I more or less gave up on the idea of learning a language. I want to learn Japanese in the short term for the consumption of their media; in the long term because I would like to live there for at least a few years. I have other reasons, but it would makes this post even longer than it is!
As a side note, the laughable attempts at French and German I am chalking up to no motivation or reason. I know I am capable of learning odd languages because in high school, I took all the notes for my psychology and sociology classes in elvish runes (the Cirth alphabet; J.R.R. Tolkien). While elvish isn’t anywhere complete enough for psychology class, the point is I know I can learn a language if I want to put the work into it (which I do). So I’m optimistic (no illusions of it being easy though, lol).
Good to meet you all, hope to see you around the boards!

Good luck with your studies!
February 10, 2012 at 1:35 pm #26618Hello! The Cirth alphabet!? That’s amazing!
February 10, 2012 at 2:33 pm #26621Such an optimistic person :D I love your avatar ahahaha :))
February 14, 2012 at 7:01 pm #26725I will try not to participate in thread necromancy as a habit, but I had a busy weekend soooo here it goes…
Hashi – I will play just about anything, but due to a current lack of friends to play with I have been experimenting with electronic music. Mainly 120 bpm house and dupstep (because I can’t resist the latest musical fads). I enjoy playing jazz (bass) and I have a weakness for synths and organs.
Zombacon – I had ALOT of time on my hands in high school, lol
dygozyr – My wife is a photographer…after 8 years of knowing her, my face has learned to do amazingly odd things, haha. it keeps things spicy :O
February 15, 2012 at 6:04 pm #26761That sounds pretty cool, do you have any of your music online? I’d love to hear some.
February 16, 2012 at 3:39 pm #26787Not currently. When I polish some of it up i’ll post.
February 16, 2012 at 4:06 pm #26801Took your notes in Elvish? As massively nerdy as it sounds, I think thats actually pretty cool in general.
