Hello, my name is Lizbet. I just started learning Japanese and I’m very excited and a little nervous. I want to learn Japanese so I can watch shows and movies without subtitles and visit Japan without the fear of not knowing how to communicate with anyone. I’m glad I found Textfugu :)

Hi, Lizbet! Welcome to the forums!

Watching shows without subs is a great goal, as is visiting Japan and being able to communicate! I think that would be wonderful. Where specifically do you want to visit?

Welcome and good luck with your studies!

Ha ha, everybody has pounced on you and are already asking a million questions, so I’ll keep this short…

Good luck with you Japanese studies.

Don’t be shy, everyone I’ve met here so far are very nice… although I haven’t met everybody! ;P

    Thanks everyone!
I’m got the forever membership figured it’s the best deal. Not sure where exactly I want to visit or see in Japan, first I want to learn more about it. And this is a little embarrassing but I saw Princess Mononoke and then my brother introduced me to this anime called Samurai X, that’s where I got I got the idea of learning Japanese. The pieces of history they mention and culture they show really interested me.

I don’t think that’s embarrassing at all. Spirited Away (which is still my favourite movie of all time) was what got me interested in learning Japanese.
