    Hi there!
I have just gotten life-long textfugu as a birthday present off my grandparents, and I’m really excited to get started. I’ve loved Japan and it’s culture for as long as I can remember, and the language really interests me. I hope to move there some day so that’s where it will definitly come in handy! :)
I’m originally from Holland (currently living in the UK), but my parents decided to give me a Japanese name (Yoshiko), and I think it’s mainly because of that, that I became so interested in Japan in the first place.
I had often thought of trying to learn Japanese but always thought it was a bit scary (all those symbols!! :’( ) but when I one day stumbled upon textfugu, I saw it as a sign to just get started. Like your youtube video, i just had to f-ing do it. :)
So yea, that’s my intro… And just to say that I think it’s amazing how great a job you did by creating textfugu, it’s really different and that’s exactly what I needed. Thanks!

Hey, welcome to TextFugu. What nice grandparents you have! That’s pretty cool that your parents gave you a Japanese name, what made them decide to do so?

Thank you, and yes they are. :) I think it’s mainly my mom who was interested in Japan, she took sushi cooking lessons and used to do a lot of origami. And the meaning of the name, i guess (child of joy/happiness).

Howdy! What an awesome birthday present. :) Good luck with your studies! Japanese can seem scary but TextFugu really breaks it down into manageable pieces.

    Good luck with your studies!
