Hi, I’m Brian Shepetofsky. I am 15 years old and I live in Texas. I am learning Japanese for 2 main reasons. The first is that I want to visit Japan for the 2020 Olympics. The second is a less serious reason – that I want to be able to play video games in their original Japanese. Usually, when a video gae is localized, various content is lost or does not make sense to the players of the localized version (Metroid: Other M is a good example). As such, I feel that learning Japanese will help me better understand the original content of a game.

I look forward to learning Japanese and working with everyone here on the forums! :)

Hi Brian, nice to meet you! I didn’t realize that Japan was hosting the 2020 Olympics :o that’s super cool! Be sure to study Japanese culture as well as the language- often a part of the localization job is to translate Japanese cultural references to ones that the West will understand. Besides, Japanese culture is interesting and totally worth studying ^_^

Good luck with your studies, and I hope to see you around!

Not from the desk of Eihiko. Eihiko's boss took his desk away from him.

And what rock have you been living under? =P

Not that I can remember who’s hosting the 2016 games. South America somewhere?
