I’ve been putting off learning Japanese for a couple of years now. I had a chance to learn when I was in high school but opted out of it for some long forgotten reason and I’ve regretted it ever since. So now I’m taking the first jump to learning Japanese.

The reason I want to learn Japanese is because I want to move to Japan. My whole life I’ve been kind of sheltered by myself and afraid to leave my comfort zone. I feel like the Japanese culture is foreign enough to force me out of my comfort zone but still familiar enough that it won’t be uncomfortable, if that makes any sense. I also, if in the cards, would like to raise a family in Japan. I want my kids to have the best education that I could possibly give them.

Thank you for reading this and I look forward to learning with all of you!

Hi David! I think I am in a slightly similar situation as you, and your thoughts on wanting to learn Japanese and dive into the culture really echo many of my own. I’m just starting to learn the language for the first time, and though I’m progressing very slowing, I really enjoy it so far. Best wishes to you on your studies!
