Hey there, everyone. I’ve just found this site and from the looks of it, it’s the sort of method I’ve been hoping to be able to learn Japanese. I prefer to self-learn, because anything I get into, I get into HARD, and that sort of thing can kill one’s motivation if their only resource is 2-5 hours a week in a Japanese class.
I started learning Japanese in primary school at age 6, and the only reason I stopped learning was because of harassment from older students. I’ve decided to go for it again, this time I’m not going to let that stop me. I’m interested in one day living in Japan, and I also (as a gamer) want to be able to enjoy the fantastic gaming experiences that never leave Japan. Having a second language may also improve my chances of finding work, if the right opportunity presents itself.
So far I really only have the fundamentals. After recently finding some Japanese games I really enjoy I’ve decided I want to do this. I’ve slowly been learned Katakana on my own with a bit of help from google, but that method won’t cut it for actual Japanese language and culture.
I’ve waffled on enough. It’s great to be here, doing my best to actually make progress.
