Hello everyone :) I am an apprentice jeweler in Texas, and am recently married. I have been to Japan twice (once for a month as an exchange student in 2007, and for 2 weeks for our honeymoon in May ).

I have taken a few years of Japanese in college and started textfugu last year, but I kinda stopped when I frustrated myself by trying to go too fast. This time I am taking a much more paced approach and studying for one hour every day, 19 days in a row so far! My goal is to be able to muddle my way through a copy of Harry Potter I have in Japanese, its going to be a long long time before I can even try, but it will be fun getting there :)

I am still thinking about trying to get into the JET program, but I am not sure if dropping everything and dragging my husband to Japan with me will hinder our budding careers too much…

    Welcome to TextFugu!

Being able to read Harry Potter in Japanese would be an amazing achievement, in my opinion.

    Good luck learning Japanese.
