My name is Leetha, I’m 31, mum to 4 kiddos, 10, 4 year old twins (all 3 girls) and a 2 month old baby boy, right now I stay at home with the kids, but we are trying to get me a position at the local army depot as a mechanic. I’ve been studying Japanese off and on since about 2000… I’m ashamed to say I feel I haven’t made much progress. My listening and speaking far outstrip my reading/writing skills. I found my interest piqued when I saw Vampire Hunter D when I was 12-13ish (I think). But it took several more years before I made the leap to learn it. I am taking baby steps on immersion, luckily, hubby and my friends are supportive. The older kiddos are learning bits and pieces, we can all sing the Song of Passage, they can count to 10, and are learning colours. We listen to mainly Japanese music, though the baby likes Heavy Metal… Sabaton, Dope, Metallica, MSI, etc. The first time I watch a series, I watch it with subs, but then I take them off and have it playing in the background most of the time. I can carry on a basic conversation for the most part, but counting scares me…
