I passed N4 and as I said, no way TF will ever take you anywhere near to being able to pass that test, and I doubt N5 as well. As you can see Joel who passed N5 is doubting this as well, so yeah.
intermediate = below N5 according to koichi.
October 14, 2012 at 12:36 am #36213I’m still a bit annoyed that I stopped using the site for around 3 months and come back to only 2 or so new lessons, which were really minor and kind of about things I picked up just from grinding out Core sentences.
Have a contingency plan because without my handbooks and Core I doubt I’d be able to say much of anything to be honest.
October 14, 2012 at 2:15 pm #36218It’s like I tell people. Get Textfugu…pay Koichi for a month or two in order to get your feet wet…then just go somewhere else. Or just drop of the face of the planet and never study again like most people do.
One of these days Koichi may come back to Textfugu full time…but it seems like he’s more concerned with Wanikani right now. He’s posting on that forum almost daily. When was the last time he joined the member discussion here, anyways? >.<

October 14, 2012 at 6:02 pm #36226What about finishing all the content on Textfugu, and then moving on the Gakuu after that? I haven’t had muh time to look at Gakuu, personally.

AnonymousGakuu has no structure. It’s just random lessons to fill in random bits of your Japanese knowledge. Plus he updates it about as often as Textfugu – Never.
October 14, 2012 at 6:08 pm #36228Yeah, when *did* he last join in on this forum? Haven’t seen Hashi around either in a while.
Koichi, do you smell really, really bad, like you haven’t showered in 2 months? If you don’t say anything, I’ll have to assume that you answered “yes”.
October 14, 2012 at 8:11 pm #36230That is such a great idea, paying for a month or two… I’ll just say as everyone else has said, it won’t take you very far. I guess the only interesting thing after you finish is the forum :P
October 14, 2012 at 8:38 pm #36231
AnonymousAnd even that’s barely interesting
October 15, 2012 at 11:59 am #36239Yeah, crumb. I hear that NihongoForum is going to be so much more awesome.
October 15, 2012 at 6:57 pm #36252October 18, 2012 at 7:45 pm #36523I did Seasons 1-6, which then I “graduated” onto other sources. But textfugu definitely gave me a real good base.
I plan to come back and do 7 (and soon 8!) when I get some spare time.
Textfugu is great, but I agree with others where it’s sort of like the beginning training wheels. But really good wheels, mind you.
Also on WaniKani…I don’t really care for it. Perhaps as stand-alone product it’s better? But if you’re already going through textfugu, you’re already going to have your anki decks set up. The wanikani process just goes way too slow.
