All in the title, really.  I’ve just started with TextFugu and the general advise seems to be a little bit each day is better than a lot occasionally.

I’m currently doing about an hour with additional Anki study when I have free time (such a commuting to work).  I try to do a bit of ‘passive’ learning with podcasts too, I don’t what they’re saying but I can usually pick out a few words!

Some good study habits realgoodegg, keep it up :D

My goal has always been “At least an hour a day”, but I never really pay attention to how long I’m studying as it’s generally done throughout the day at random times. I’d say most of the time it’s less than that, unfortunately, but some times more when I’m really motivated. It also depends on how much free time I have. I’ve been doing more now that the summer break has started, but it’s a different story during the semester at uni. If I didn’t have to look for a job or have any other commitments over these 4 months, I’d probably spend a lot longer each day.

I think the best situation is where you’re so engrossed you lose track of time and don’t actually know how long it’s been :D

Because the chapters / lessons are usually quite short, I find it easy to dip in and do a few each day.  By the end of the week you find you’ve actually covered quite a lot.

I sure things will become more strenuous as I reach the more advanced stuff though.

Typically about 1-2 hours if I’m doing a lesson for the day. About 30-40 Min reviews with Anki every day.

I’m going to be away on Business next week. So I’ll probably get a little extra studying in on the plane and in the hotel.

I’m only midway through season 4 of Text Fugu. I average about 2 hours on days that I work and maybe about 3 hours when I’m off. A fair amount of time is spend reviewing Anki. My brain leaks like a sieve when it comes to retaining what I have learned.

@Wasif: Do you mean you spend the majority of the 2 hours doing cards on Anki?

@Michael: Nah, about 30 minutes, it’s the first thing I do when I wake up :). Sometimes a little longer if I’ve just loaded a new deck from TextFugu or added some extra vocab into my own decks. In fact I’m just about to start the next batch of Kanji so it looks like I will be using Anki a bit more :P

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a kind of job where you had nothing better to do than to sit around studying, while getting paid quite good money for it… XD A job where the instructions include; “If you want to sleep, do it in shifts so that someone’s awake to answer the telephone” (in the off-chance that it were to ring). Wouldn’t that be grand…

A few hours every day… I’m hooked! This stuff is the best drug ever… implying drugs are good.
