    I keep seeing constructions such as 大きな帽子 and 小さな川 even if 大きい and 小さい are “i-adjectives.” Is there a hidden grammar point I’m missing? :)

    Ookii can be both. I think chisai can be too; but, I will have to double check.

    Yeah, 大きい and 小さい are both な and い adjectives.

    However, I am also unclear on when to use them in each form…

    As far as I know there is no special grammar for them, its just the way those two are ;P
