As I’m learning the readings of various kanji, I’m finding it a struggle to remember when (or when not) a vowel is extended. So like, しょ vs しょう or せ vs せい. I’ve sort of tried saying the long ones super exaggerated in hopes that that might make my brain more aware of the clear difference. Do you guys have any other ideas for dealing with this issue?

I confess I’ve not really had this issue. Maybe studying some vocab which use these kanji would help hammer the point home?
