Hajimemashita, Matt desu. I became interested in the Japanese culture when I was a teen. It probably started from my love of martial arts…as well as gaming and anime. The more I learn about the it the more Japan seems like the last paradise. Living in the US and seeing how the concept of honor is almost completely gone here is pretty sad, so hopefully one of these days I’ll be able to call Japan my home too. I should mention I took a year of Japanese in college, but it was pretty lax. We didn’t even really get into kanji at all. I was hoping to major in it, but then they decided to drop the whole program. Awesome!
Well, sorry for the little rant there, its one of those days. Many thanks to all who put up this awesome site. I feel I can really start to master the language through it. Tofugu rocks!
    Doozo yoroshiku!

Hey Matt! Welcome to Textfugu, that is a shame when demand is too low or they cut it for funding. However there’s pretty much an abundance of online learning materials (like here?!) and making as many Japanese friends as you can helps a lot.

Can’t speak for the US but it’s like that over here in the UK. Looking forward to the day I leave this country :)
