as I go through Anki, I can recall the vocab when I see the hiragana. I can’t recall the vocab when I’m trying to incorporate Japanese vocab when speaking with my wife (she’s Japanese). Do I just trust Koichi and study the Anki decks as is or is it alright to build English/Japanese Anki vocab deck to supplement the Japanese/English decks that I’m using now? Thanks.

I’m in the same position as you too. For me, production purposes, I think studying an English->Japanese deck is better than Japanese->English.
I think Koichi assumes most members don’t have much opportunity to use (speak/write) Japanese and don’t need to be able to recall from English to Japanese as often as Japanese to English.
Thanks for responding to my post. I have already built English to Japanese decks using the same vocab that we’ve already been given. I just hope I’m not doing extra work >.<
Koichi’s no master, just the destroyer of the Japanese language learning industry. Feel free to do whatever works best for you.

I actually noticed the same. So I sacrificed the audio, and I export each new deck as a text file. I import it back, and it’s fixed. I know it’s redundant, but when I attempt to select it all, and fix it, it says it can’t do multiple card types. It sucks. :( So that works for me, if you’re willing to sacrifice the audio, do it. :)
