I got into anime last summer, and although this is definitely not the only reason I became interested in the Japanese language, it was a starting point for me. I picked up a few words that are used often in anime, but I couldn’t spell them or use them in a real sentence, so I never did anything with those words. Occasionally I looked things up on google translate, but I got frustrated because I couldn’t understand the characters.

One day I was curious about some word, so I looked it up and clicked on the first result that caught my eye. It happened to be the tofugu post “The 100 Most Important Japanese Words You Should Know” and I realised I didn’t know how to pronounce any of them. So, I clicked the link to TextFugu’s free first season, and that is how I began learning Japanese.

I’m really glad that I accidentally found that link because learning Japanese is kind of my passion now, and I even got the lifetime deal as my birthday present from my parents because I didn’t want anything else in particular and learning is a worthy pursuit anyway. As a student, it’s sometimes hard to find time for my “hobby,” but it always works out. I am so thankful for TextFugu and I hope everyone else is enjoying it too!
