    Hey y’all,

I started a Textfugu membership when I was in high school, but now I’m in college, and I made the mistake of being one of the 90% of people who quit studying Japanese. I still remember a bit of it (particularly the kana), but now I wish to study the shamisen at a university in Kyoto. My number one passion is music, but language learning is also something I love. I moved from Japanese to French, and my French is decent. I wanted to get back into Japanese now that I have more experience learning a language and have more concrete goals/reasons for learning it.

    My reasons are:
-to travel to Kyoto and learn the shamisen (which I plan to do in the spring of 2019)
-so I can visit Mount Fuji and cry about it (mountains make me cry), as well as see sakura blossom before I die
-so I can read the Tale of Genji in Japanese and play The Legend of Zelda in the original text (this is important for some of the Japan-only spin off games)
-so I can read untranslated haiku and tanka (I’m an English major and love poetry)

I probably shouldn’t have that many reasons, but my interests/focus/priorities change so often that I need reasons in different categories (music, travel, literature) related to my main passions.

All that aside, I’m looking forward to getting back into Japanese!!

    Welcome!

Mount Fuji made me cry, though in all fairness, I may have been suffering from mild altitude sickness at the time. =)
