July 12, 2011 at 8:19 pm #13950Hmm, interesting… so do they normally go by one or the other? Also, if using 12-hour… how do they tell AM or PM? I’d think they would say something other than AM or PM like we do. Thanks for the response btw.
July 12, 2011 at 9:32 pm #13951In general digital clocks will display the time in 24 hours. Analog clocks, of course, use 12. Written, I’ve seen more 24hr that 12hr, speaking, I would say they are used about the same. If AM/PM is implied, as in English, it’s not mentioned. If you said you went to bed at 10:30, you don’t need to say PM. In more ambiguous cases, AM/PM is designated by 午前/午後 (ごぜん/ごご):
午前3時
午後3時 etcJuly 12, 2011 at 9:52 pm #13952Awesome… Thanks for the help kyle! I did try googling it, but every other post was different, so figured I’d ask to sort things out. Thanks again

July 13, 2011 at 10:37 am #13991I can explain the 25 hour thing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_Megami_Tensei:_Persona_3
“Experiments carried out ten years ago created the Dark Hour, a period of time that exists between one day and the next. During this time, most people are transmogrified into coffins and are not aware of the Dark Hour; however, there is a select group of people who are.”
It happens at midnight, then resumes regular time at midnight, after the dark hour.
Obviously, Japan has implemented this into their time system.
Also @Koichi wtf man the fugu just threatened to poke my eyes out. This is really uncool. :(

July 13, 2011 at 1:05 pm #14015@Mars I’m sorry! I’ll try to control him. He’s on a lot of drugs lately… He needs an intervention.
July 13, 2011 at 2:52 pm #14044@Sheepy I always say “Heyyyy guys!” along with him hehe :P And also “More videooooos… coming soon.”. If you watch his videos regularly, do you notice that he has a different (but still consistent) “hey guys” when he is in the car? He does this little hand wave thing in front of his face as well when he’s talking about something negative, something you shouldn’t do :D I guess I just like his mannerisms and his accent haha
July 18, 2011 at 3:29 pm #14234I think the 25-hour thing is kinda like this thread… it’s on topic, yet at the same time it’s not… It’s strayed into the grey area while still being mostly on topic.
In all seriousness though on the 9:00-25:00 thing… I’d seen another post somewhere mentioning that Japanese like to say 25:00 or 26:00 instead of 1:00AM or 2:00AM… The clocks still use 24-hour or 12-hour though, depending on the clock of course.
