Ok, I know this has been talked about a lot all over the internet but somehow I didn’t find any good, up to date forum threads so I might as well create a new one. Does anyone know where you can stream live Japanese TV channels (TV Asahi, TBS, TV Tokyo, etc…)? Please avoid Livestation, TVUPlayer, and Keyhole TV. On a slightly more specific unrelated note.. does anyone know where I can watch this year’s Ontama Carnival? Thank you in advance.

… OK, so now what? :P
January 1, 2012 at 7:34 pm #23251Keyhole is pretty poor. Every now and again someone hosts a bunch of high quality streams but none that I know of right now.
There is a site for a single channel that runs 24/7 but for the life of me I can’t remember it.
January 1, 2012 at 7:40 pm #23252NHK World has instructions on their website for how to pick them up by satellite, but I don’t know how much of that channel is in Japanese (or, for that matter, whether you can pick up satellite =P ).
January 2, 2012 at 1:17 am #23268I don’t believe there is any Japanese on NHK World, but I could be wrong.
http://jptv24.com/ – Check it out, the quality’s alright but the selection, well…
http://www.freshverse.com/ – Wasn’t working for 3yrs or so but apparently it’s back… really good quality, no selection though. (Also, they might still require invites…)I’ve been trying for a number of months as well but the outlook is rather bleak.
January 2, 2012 at 2:33 am #23270wwitv.com – worth a look sometimes but not great selection.
January 2, 2012 at 6:15 am #23277I have NHK World on cable and it’s entirely in Japanese. Except for one program about music that was in English, but it had Japanese subs.
January 2, 2012 at 6:32 am #23278Oh and just to confirm, freshverse is working fine at the moment. Not sure what on earth I am watching right now (argh the colours! my eyes!!), but it’s good quality!
January 2, 2012 at 7:48 am #23284@ooh_a_robot It’s only the the NHK G channel ATM, here’s the schedule.
@Joel NHK World Premium has many different Japanese shows but it can be a bit of a PITA to set up. You may get lucky and be able to get it locally (see TV Japan to see if there is a provider near you) or order the service direct from Japan International Broadcasting Inc. for 3000¥/month plus the purchase of equipment (IRD receiver and 2.5m dish). The dish is huge compared to what most of us see around here. I was hoping that they offered an online solution as I’m cable and satellite free (there’s A LOT of online programming if you look) but it seems there isn’t anything. Shame.
@RadRussian I know of a few places that have a simulcast 1hr(ish) after they air in Japan or so like dramacrazy.net, crunchyroll.com, funimation.com and mysoju.com but they aren’t quite live.
January 4, 2012 at 10:30 am #23549Thank you everyone.
