Mark – I’ve been picking up some new grammar from TK, trying to listen regularly (Genki CD, anime) and cram new vocab.
    What’s the book about listening?

Got about two weeks left to decide.

Had a surge of enthusiasm this morning when I realised you only need 30% in the listening section to pass, which is almost doable by random guessing, only to have that enthusiasm wither once more when I actually attempted some of the listening sample questions…

Ok, finally put my foot down and signed up for N3. Or maybe I just put my foot in it…

Good work Joel. As long as both of your feet aren’t left feet it is all good.

Indeed. Don’t think my listening ability has improved noticeably, though…

    Ten days to go.

Unfortunately, the more I study, the more I discover I don’t know yet…

    Haha
Well isn’t that always how it works when you study? There’s no reason to study what you already know ;)

Yeah. I’ll put in my best effort, naturally, but I kinda think this year’s going to be a lost cause. Guess I’ll just accept it and move on – then buy the kanji and vocab study books and start studying for next year earlier.

You seem to be really good at answering people’s Japanese questions here.

That’s cause most of them aren’t N3 level. And I don’t have to do it from memory.

I’m going to give it a shot, too. I’m a bit terrified, as my grammar and listening lag a bit behind. I’m trying to cram vocabulary from a list for N3 and listen to various things a lot through the day.

I don’t know if this has been posted here, but this is a great resource for some free listening practice.

Thanks for the link! I’ve been to the site, but not that page.

A nice article on why the JLPT word lists suck and how to (roughly) fix them. It’s sure to interest anyone who likes natural language processing, linguistics, or just pretty graphs :3

As I post this I’ve just realised I got this link from the Tofugu Facebook page, so I’m guessing some of you have already seen it… Eh, I’ll post it anyway.
