Hey there, I’m not gonna babble around for too long (at least for now). But anyway I just started university this trimester, and I’m planing to get into the east-asian program in the next year, so I thought I’ll get ahead on some levels.Just one Question… I’m dyslexic, and trying to learn a third language (french, english, and now japanese) is kind of a big deal. Does anybody knows if the japanese language is dyslexic-friendly?

So there it is. I’m looking forward to learn more over here.

    Welcome!

According to some hasty Googling, logographic orthographies (such as kanji) work well for dyslexics, but not many studies have been done for syllabaric orthographies (like katakana or hiragana). I couldn’t speak personally, though…

    Thanks Joel,

I remember reading about dyslexia vs. ideograph/ideogram/logogram, but like you said there is not a lot of research done on the subject. So i guess there is only one way to find out and it’s to simply dive in (hopefully the pool as some water in it)

Welcome to TextFugu and Happy New Year!

It sounds like you would be a good candidate for WaniKani. It’s a separate system developed by Koichi that solely focuses on Kanji. It works like a game with 50 levels. Most of the Kanji taught in TextFugu are covered in the first 10 levels, so there’s a heap more and it’s even better than using Anki.

You’ll find a link to it with a discount on the dashboard:

    http://www.textfugu.com/dashboard/

You have to sign up for the site and they will send you an invite to join. The first 2 levels are free.
