On the page for the kanji 返 http://www.textfugu.com/kanji/返/#top the first word which I know as “to return” is written with a different kanji. What is this? I put it into translate and it came up as “to change”.
AnonymousIt’s a mistake. It should be 返る, with no え as okurigana. It is an intransitive verb that means ‘to be returned’ or ‘something (of itself) returns’.
変える means ‘to change’. It is a transitive verb that means ‘to change something’.
