    Hey guys..

I’ve just wrapping up Season 2 and I’m finding the usual vocab, sentences and kanji are sinking in nicely and I’m starting to say the Japanese word for something when I see it around me which is pretty cool :) However I’m really struggling with my kanji vocab.. there just seems to be a lot of it to remember at once, slightly overwhelming..

I know it’s not going to be easy however I was wondering who else struggles with kanji vocab and if you guys have any tips for remembering it quicker.. I think I find the くん reading more difficult to remember… It’s difficult to create mnemonics for vocab so other than repetition I can’t think of a better method to remember them.

Any suggestions would be awesome :)

    Thanks guys!

I think it’s very easy once you have learnt the kanji, you can just identify which word it is by the kana at the end of it. e.g. 楽しい、楽しみ

If you do something like Remembering the Kanji then you’ll be able to guess which kanji will be used for the word, since in many cases (not all) the meaning of the kanji is roughly the same as the word that kanji will be used for, so that can help. The more familiar you get with each kanji the easier it will be.

You might want to check out Read the Kanji (.com) I think it’s a much better resource than the kanji sections of this site. Really good for learning vocab and you get example sentences too.

If I remember, Koichi recently made mini mnemonics for the kunyomi as well. They’re not as extensive and detailed as the onyomi, but the onyomi is in fact more important, anyway.
I would say try to memorize the kanji vocab, and then always review them in anki everyday.

Thanks for your suggestions guys, I’m slowly getting them now.. think the key really is just repetition.
