Please don’t get mad at me.
I’m starting to get worried, because Koichi is not answering my email about getting my money back from Texfugu and closing my account (this is why I was a little worried you’ll be mad, but dont get me wrong: I really like Textfugu. It’s just that I didn’t know which level the lessons actually take you when I paid and then noticed I already know the stuff here).
The problem is, as long as my account still exist, every month money will be transferred from my paypal account. My mom’s money. To a website I promised her would be reliable.
It says somewhere on this site that refundings should be easy peasy, but it’s been over a month since I sent my first email (after that I’ve sent another one, but it’s yet to be answered). I’m starting to get really nervous and don’t know what else I could I do but to post here.
Please, anyone know what I should do?
June 6, 2013 at 1:55 am #40527Have you tried both email addresses? -hello@textfugu.com -koichi@textfugu.com
June 6, 2013 at 3:56 am #40530“I was a little worried you’ll be mad” – damn straight! Not at you though, at Koichi :P There was never any of this kind of bullshit back in the day. You could email him any time and he’s always get back to you with great, in-depth replies (depending on what you asked him). He was occasionally on the forum too, which seems an alien concept now. Now with this “Kuma” thing he’s working on being a separate entity to TextFugu, it seems like he’s pretty much given up. He’s bored of TextFugu now but instead of giving up outright, he’s putting it on the back burner, which is probably worse.
Also, feel free to stick around on this forum even after you’ve quit TextFugu – there are a number of users who are way past the material there anyway, so you’d be in good company ;) And when I say “a number of users” I mean “majority of people who post here regularly”.
June 6, 2013 at 4:07 am #40535No, it’s even more worse than “on the back-burner” Michael – we’re talking someone’s money, here. That’s verging on fraud. Even if he’s not going to pay regular attention anymore, it’s still vital that he be prompt with responses to money issues.
Maybe he needs to hire someone purely to handle the money side of things. Coincidentally, I currently work as a bookkeeper. Just sayin’… =)
June 6, 2013 at 4:19 am #40538Contacting PayPal is an option, they can be pretty good at such things.
June 6, 2013 at 8:10 am #40542Thank you for your answers! I’ve only sent e-mail to hello@textfugu.com, because it should be the one with you get the fastest response.
MisterM2402: Before this happened, I only had heard good things about him. I know he’s busy now, but I’ve been waiting over a month…
I didn’t know you could read the forum after quitting. I’ve read a few topics so far, and I admit there’s lots of interesting stuff here. :)
vanandrew: I think the next thing I’m going to do is to contact PayPal. I wouldn’t want any of that, but it’s about the last option I have left.
EDIT: I’m not sure how I should do that, any advice?

June 6, 2013 at 10:51 am #40545sure it’s not the same website but it’s the same people and it’s more active currently (until “kuma” takes over…?) I get responses from that email so give it a try! there’s also facebook
=^..^=June 6, 2013 at 11:15 am #40546Have you tried the emergency form:
http://tofugu.wufoo.com/forms/z7x2p1/
It’s supposed to send a text message to his phone, if it still works.
June 6, 2013 at 11:21 am #40547zeldaskitten: I’ve tried that e-mail… I don’t know what’s wrong. :/
Elenkis: I haven’t considered this “emergency” before, but I guess it’s time to try that if nothing still happens after trying the other e-mail.
June 6, 2013 at 11:34 am #40548I find it odd that there’s no simple way to cancel your account. I wouldn’t know since I started waaaaay back when and am a forever member.. But don’t most sites have an ‘account’ section that let’s you cancel?
=^..^=June 6, 2013 at 12:56 pm #40552Most do. This one doesn’t have the payment system integrated, though – Koichi does it all manually.
June 6, 2013 at 3:25 pm #40553This leads me to wondering… Has something maybe happened to him? That would explain why he isn’t answering…
I used the emergency form, let’s see if that does any good.
June 6, 2013 at 4:30 pm #40556As far as I’ve been aware, you don’t actually need to be/have subscribed to TextFugu to be able to access the forum. There might have been something where you don’t have some of the same posting privileges (are there any?), but I’m not exactly sure. Please do stay: the more “post-beginners”, the merrier :D
“Has something maybe happened to him?” – Yup. He’s bored of/lost motivation for TextFugu and has focussed all his efforts on WaniKani and whatever else. He’s not even that active on Tofugu any more, seems like the majority of posts are written by John and Hashi.
@Joel: If it’s just on the backburner, it gives people a false impression that shit actually gets done. At least if he makes a statement saying he’s giving up on it outright, people will know more what to expect when they sign up. The badness of money being involved was implied, I guess.
June 6, 2013 at 5:58 pm #40557Are you an AKBro?
June 6, 2013 at 6:11 pm #40560I forget where to go in Paypal for disputes, but I did it once before & they were really good, it was really easy to do.
