    Konnichiwa!
    Watashi wa Lucy-san desu.

I am 30 years old and live in Essex, in the United Kingdom.

I am learning Japanese after falling in love with Japanese food and culture as a teenager. I fulfilled a dream of mine when I travelled to Japan in 2010 and visited Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Hiroshima. At the time two of the friends I travelled with were also studying Japanese but I was put off of learning languages after struggling with French and German at school and didn’t think I’d master a language as difficult as Japanese!

Anyway, the years went by, work and family took up much of my time, and I was reading The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet, David Mitchell’s wonderful novel set in 16th century when my love for Japan was rekindled and I decided to finally go for it and master the language. I signed up for a Japanese class at my local adult learning centre and began my studies in October 2014.

I came across Textfugu whilst searching for Japanese learning resources and am so impressed, I treated myself to a subscription in the January sale. I’m hoping to learn a lot from this site, and I’m particularly hoping it will help me with particles and katakana, two things I am struggling with right now. I’m also hoping to meet other students to practise Japanese with!

I look forward to meeting a few more Japanophiles in these forums!

    Sayounara!

Ooo, I was there in 2010 as well. Same cities, even. When did you go?

Incidentally, don’t use an honorific with your own name. That’s a big no-no. =)
