As with most people posting recently, I picked this up because I saw the sale on Reddit. I’m not going to mince words here, but I am super unmotivated most of the time, so I will push myself this year to learn Japanese seriously instead of just randomly pushing vocab into my head every few weeks.
My primary goal is to be able to listen and read Japanese fluently. It’s a pretty generic goal, but it’s because all I really want to do is play Japanese video games (some avid gamer). It’s a REALLY long shot dream, but I hope I can interview COOL&CREATE one day because they are my all-time favorite group, and I don’t know anything about them except for their music. The problem though is that I don’t know much about Japanese culture and etiquette, and I don’t how polite it is to go about randomly asking for a interview.Anyway, that was my intro. I really am hoping to make some friends since a lot of people are starting a new here. As they say, よろしくおねがいします :3 (I hope that’s right and I’m not embarrassing myself!)
EDIT: Guess who just read that goals page. >_>

January 2, 2013 at 1:16 pm #37680Hey Jason, welcome to Textfugu! :D I hope you enjoy it here as I am ^.^ I’m about to start Season 5. This really is for people who are serious about learning Japanese so I hope you are! Anyway, Happy New Year and welcome once again, (I’m assuming you’re new from what you said above) btw, よろしくおねがいします!^^Happy studying~
January 2, 2013 at 1:35 pm #37686I saw you lurking in my intro so it only makes sense for me to lurk in yours. :)
Let’s see who will drop out of the Japanese race sooner, you or me!?
I kid, I kid… or do I?
Maybe I can be your rival or someting… Ah what a thought. Tehehe.
January 2, 2013 at 6:14 pm #37707Unless you’ve studied some Japanese before, I’ve got quite the step ahead of you, Xash. Not to brag about my newbie skills, but I already know hiragana, katakana, some kanji, and some SUPER basic sentence structure. >:D
Going on for day 2, I’m just blazing through season 1 right now, since I know most of it already. So far I haven’t come across anything new yet. Not to say I haven’t been following along. I’ve done all the “write down your goals” and “passion list” stuff (most of the words I’ve come up with are computer words, so it’s a lot of katakana. :<). Honestly, I see these as bogus so far, but I fessed up $60 dollars, so might as well follow it to the letter, right? (well, I haven’t cleaned my room like it asked, but that’s something I’m definitely working on) What I’ve tried before hasn’t worked, so if this does, maybe I’ll start believing all this psychology junk… Maybe. >_>
January 2, 2013 at 6:28 pm #37713The problem with psychology is that it doesn’t really work until you believe it works, it’s a very messy subject. How many times have you heard “You can’t change unless you want to change” or “you’re only as bad as you think you are.” So better get to believin’ my friend.
