Good tidings and a fruitful new year to all that read this post.

I have been working my way through the (extremely generous) free lessons and finally decided to financially commit to this silly quest for knowledge (the 50% off offer did help…).

Why do I want to learn Japanese? Well, it’s because I admire the food, the culture, the media, but mostly, the people. I’ve always circled the perimeter of Japanese pop culture, occasionally dabbling in an anime or movie but never going full otaku.

This past year, I watched on a computer screen all the horrors that Japan had to face, natural or otherwise. I realized that the Japanese people are some of the most mature, respectful, and honorable people on this planet. And those are the kind of people that I might want to surround myself with someday (perhaps permanently). So, learning their language is a good step one.

Enough about me. Great site. Great resource. Great language.
    You guys are awesome.

    Hello! I’ve also recently joined!

I really loved what you had to say; you put down some thoughts I’ve had for a while now, but in a very eloquent manner. And I agree about wanting to surround myself with these wonderful people!
