Alright, so I’m fairly certain the search feature is completely dysfunctional on here. I’ve never had any search results, and when nothing came up for “music” I started to get very suspicious. I then searched “Japan” and nothing came up. That there is some broken.

Anyways!

I was walking home in the rain today, listening to Kyari Pamyu Pamyu, and I had a thought! Basically all of my Japanese music is girly J-pop. While there is nothing wrong with this, perhaps a better use of my time would be something sung by men. The reason being that, although I can actually sing a bit of the soprano range, it just isn’t enough for a lot of the Japanese music. It can get me through some of it but it’s mostly too fast for me to go from low to mid soprano – that needs to be gradual because I don’t have any training. SO! I need something like, tenor, so that I can sing some Japanese, thus improving my Japanese, and also looking and sounding 100% ridiculous.

Does anybody have any suggestions? It’s worth noting that I listen to pretty much everything except rap (even that has exceptions though) and current Western pop (I will jam to 90′s stuff because I’m awesome that way). So genre doesn’t matter too much to me. Although I get pretty excited for jazz.

And actually, to go back to gender, it doesn’t have to be a male vocalist, just a lower pitch is enough. Like I can sing KT Tunstall no problem. Even that song by Asteroids Galaxy Tour that was used in the Heineken commercial I can get most of, there’s just this one part that I can’t do. I’ve even been known to jam to some Spice Girls, although that starts pushing it vocally. I can handle some of the slower AKB48 stuff but I tend not to like those ones as much; I like J-pop for the incessant dopamine surge. Crap. Now I feel like I’m bragging. I’m not! Honest! I just want to give you an idea of what’s achievable for me, in case you are the kind of person that likes detail and will use that for more accurate suggestion. It’s the kind of stuff I would ask for if the situation were reversed.
