Hello! I’m a swedish girl learning japanese! I’ve been trying to get time for learning japanese for some years now, and I never have time! So form now on I am making time! I’ve been able to read hiragana/katakana for a couple of years now, and that’s about it. I never advance, but now…!
As the lesson tells me I should write down WHY I want to learn japanese and thats not that easy. But I guess a big part of it is that I want to be able to read on interesting sites on the internet, games that’s not released elseware and some manga (even tho I rarely read that). Another big thing is understanding japanese when listening to music, watching tv-shows, j-drama and anime.
The third and perhaps the biggest part is that I have a dream to live in Japan. But I’m a realist and know that’s never going to happen… so I’ve put that dream down. ^^;
I hope that we all will get along and that I have made my self understod using english!
どもよろしくおにがいします。

September 5, 2011 at 12:35 pm #16853Welcome to Fugu! Enjoy your time! Good luck learning Japanese
September 5, 2011 at 12:38 pm #16854Thank you! And sorry for putting this in the wrong section. I’m apparently a bad reader. How will my study go!?
September 5, 2011 at 1:16 pm #16856You’ll become better and better of course!
Welcome to TextFugu, let’s get along~
The only true reason for me to learn Japanese is that I love the language.
I don’t really need anything other than that.
Being able to speak Japanese has its benefits of course =)Don’t try to force yourself into too long study sessions and
take it a few bites a time, regularly.
In the beginning it might not feel like much, but you will see how
awesomely it will build up. You can do it!
Let’s give it our best, shall we?September 5, 2011 at 9:18 pm #16872Hi Linda – welcome! Good for you for finally making the time to learn Japanese. You’ve got a good start with already knowing kana!
Revenant has some great advice – slow and steady wins the race. Good luck with your studies!

PS – I moved the thread into the intro section for you. ;)September 6, 2011 at 8:35 am #16883Welcome to TextFugu! This site/service is a really great tool for helping you learn Japanese, and if you put in a few minutes every day, you’ll have learned a bunch of Japanese before you know it!
I cannot imagine how hard it is to learn a language using a book/resource that’s in a language other than your primary language. If you need any help around here, post a thread in the forums! There are many people here that know their stuff and are happy to help.
September 6, 2011 at 8:48 am #16884Heeey, looks like you joined Fugu the same day as me ;3
Hopefully in a bit the two of us will be able to look back at this day and notice how far along we’ve gotten.
As for living in Japan, don’t give up that dream just yet. It might seem impossible now, and it might very well be, but in a few months or years, who knows what might happen? If you really want something, don’t give up, and someday you might be able to realize this dream. At least that’s what I believe.
And I call myself a realist? :p
September 6, 2011 at 9:26 am #16885Heya LindaMy! Welcome to TextFugu and good luck learning Japanese!

LOL
Look if you want to speak realistically, obviously it will never happen if you never try. So you keep on thinking that and you will never live in Japan.
