Hello! My name is Shem and I am just loving Textfugu. I just finished Season 1 (the free part) and am just starting season 2!
I am on Textfugu b/c I plan to do mission work in Kobe, Japan in the near future. In fact, I plan to make Japan my new home. I am 33 years old and currently reside in Philadelphia.
Thank you and blessings to all,

Christian mission? Think I know some missionaries who live in Kobe, actually. Or rather, I know some missionaries in Japan – I think they live in Kobe.
July 21, 2017 at 5:24 am #50345Hi Joel,
Thanks for the response. That’s awesome that you know missionaries in Kobe! And yes, I am a Christian. I recently started a nonprofit called Lion of Judah Int’l Ministries. You can check out my website at http://www.roarfather.com. The website is not complete yet though.
I’m actually networking now and have had success connecting with a few others in Japan. If there is anyway you think your connections can help me, I’d greatly appreciate it. No pressure though. Originally, I tried reaching out to organizations that I thought would sponsor my efforts there. Sadly, since I didn’t know the language or culture well enough … my efforts failed. Getting a visa is tough too. Simply put, I am simply not ready yet. This is why I am studying Textfugu!
July 21, 2017 at 5:37 am #50347Hmm. Seems the missionaries I had in mind are not, in fact, in Japan at the moment. Perhaps they’re on a homestay right now (i.e. they’re back here in Australia resting and training and so forth). Though come to think of it, I DID see one of them last week, so that’s probably likely.
There are missionaries still in Kobe, though. None that I know personally, though. For example: http://www.cms.org.au/missionary/eastasia/brad-and-michelle-jackson
As for getting a visa, as I understand it, if you want to get a working visa in Japan, you need to have at least a bachelor degree or equivalent – that’s a requirement of the Japanese government. I confess I’ve never looked into the exact requirements, though. Your best bet there is probably to contact your nearest Japanese embassy.
July 21, 2017 at 5:54 am #50348Oh thanks for the connect (even if you do not know them personally). I will check out their work. In terms of a visa, I think it maybe best for me to get a religious visa since I will be doing missionary work. I do not intend to go back to school. I already have a Bachelors in Psychology. I’m 33 by the way.
And yes, I do live near a Japanese consul here in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, I have not reached out to them yet. I will probably do so in a couple of months. I’d like to impress them with the things I learn here in Textfugu.
Thank you again my new Tomadachi.
