Hello! My name is Anna and I live in Montreal. I speak English and French, and am currently studying linguistics. I have tried to study Japanese a few times before in a few different ways, but only felt like I’d just begun to scratch the surface, but from what I’ve read through so far in textfugu my optimism is way up! (like, a little bit giddy, even.) I love cartoons of all eras and countries of origin, so it goes without saying that I’m a bit of an anime nut, and I am fascinated by the cultural history and traditions. I’ve found that over time, for anything I’m interested in, all roads eventually lead to Japan, whether it’s folklore monsters or all-girl punk bands or the entire Japanese approach to the field of primatology. But what really gets me going is THE FOOD. The number one thing on my when-I-get-to-Japan list is to go grocery shopping, and I have a whole map in my head of what I want to eat and where (Pretty much, everything, everywhere. I’ll even eat natto as long as I get to be in Japan when I do it.) My ultimate dream job would involve translating cookbooks, but before I get too ahead of myself, I’ve got to buckle down and learn some Kanji. The good news is that I’m more excited than ever to do so!
