I’ve got to the second Sentences deck and I’m having issues merging the decks. Whenever I import the file (no matter whether or not I have another deck open), it creates “sentences2″ as a new deck in Anki instead of merging them.

I eventually manually moved the contents of sentences2 to the first Sentences deck, but this resulted in me being told I shouldn’t view any more new cards today.

I think I understand the problem you are having but correct me if I’m wrong.
When you import a new deck such as ‘sentences2′ it will be created as a separate deck on Anki. To solve this you drag the new deck onto the main deck that you are using. In your case you would drag the ‘sentences2′ deck on to the ‘sentences1′ deck to collect them together.

    Hope this helps ^^’
p.s. On a side note re-naming the main deck that you’re using for each section can be useful when it comes to adding new decks over time.

Great post for issues such as you are having==> http://www.textfugu.com/bb/topic/guide-to-using-anki-2-with-textfugu/. That really, really helped me clean up my deck and make it easier to use. (Read: less likely to give up on Anki due to my lack of understanding how to use it.) Hope that helps.

I’m having a similar issue, even though I’ve dragged the new decks to children of the main deck (ie dragged sentences2 onto sentences1), I still get warning from Anki saying I have too many decks. I’m going to have a read of the post you linked Paul, hopefully it’ll clear things up!
