So I started the core 2000 on Anki and stumbled on this sentence : 家に遊びに来てください。

I was guessing something along : please come play at my house but the official answer is : Please come over to my house. Is it implied he asks over to play or is it just that the ”play” kanji can be used in that way? thanks!

Eijiro is a good resource for researching phrases that you think might be idiomatic.

遊びに来る is a set phrase. But it still kinda means the same thing y’know.
You can also use rikaichan for that, it’ll tell you if it’s an expression or whatever.
