Radicals not showing in Anki. When it shows the card it stays blank?!?!?!
Really not sure what I’m doing, anyone know what I need to do?
ThanksAugust 9, 2011 at 2:34 pm #15259Hey dooweese! Which Anki deck in particular are you having trouble with?
August 10, 2011 at 8:42 am #15298Hey Hashi, I’m having problems with deck radicals 1/2 stroke and the 3 stroke radical deck. Yet, hirigana, katakana and kanji work fine :S
August 10, 2011 at 10:09 am #15301Hmm, I’m able to open them okay. I would recommend checking if Anki if up to date and re-downloading the decks and if you’re still having problems, you can email me and I can put my IT skills to work :D (I used to work at a computer help desk.)
August 10, 2011 at 12:45 pm #15308Just tried that and still won’t show the radical, but just shows the answer. :’(
I’ve gone into browse the actual contents of the deck in the browse section and it just shows a picture of a doc. rather than the radical. It’s like it doesn’t recognise the radical. I’ve downloaded the Japanese support plug in, so I’m really at a loss. It’s probably gonna be something dead simple, and I’m gonna feel very silly afterwards.
I would of course really appreciate your assistance :)August 10, 2011 at 3:28 pm #15334Have the radical decks ever worked for you?
Are you using a Mac or Windows computer?
Can you read/write in Japanese everywhere else?
August 11, 2011 at 9:18 am #15429No, never worked for me. Windows and can write Japanese everywhere else
August 11, 2011 at 12:44 pm #15459Hm, I’ll have to try this out on my Windows computer. I’ll let you know whether it works for me.
August 11, 2011 at 5:30 pm #15476Cheers bud
August 12, 2011 at 2:59 pm #15573There’s a new anki deck if you want to download it, though it’ll be the same.
One thing I’d check is that you’ve downloaded the .media folder as well, and have it in the same place as your .anki deck file. The radicals exist images, just because not all radicals are typable, so you gotta have the media folder along with them, otherwise radicals won’t show up…
Thinking this is the issue, let us know how it goes!
August 13, 2011 at 5:46 pm #15606I’ve been having a similar problem that I’ve tried for weeks to resolve with no avail. Fortunately, my radical decks work just fine on the computer I originally started studying them on, but when I try to access these decks using syncing to the online service, I have exactly the same problem dooweese describes. I’ve tried deleting the online versions of my decks and reuploading them, only the have the same problem again.
August 14, 2011 at 1:20 pm #15631Turns out I’m a tard. Hadn’t saved the media folder *facepalm*
Thanks for the assistance and getting back to me relatively quickly.
Sorry that I ain’t able help you out star fisher.August 15, 2011 at 5:59 pm #15696@dooweese yayyy!
@Star Fisher – did the above solution work for you too, or still broken? :(
August 16, 2011 at 5:41 am #15704My Anki Folder definately has a .media folder for my radicals which contains all the pictures, these pictures just don’t seem to get onto Ankiweb. Is there some option which I’m missing that would tell Anki those need to be uploaded to the site?
Thanks for the help.
August 16, 2011 at 9:49 am #15710Ah ha, gotcha – that’s a little more complicated.
I used dropbox to sync my media:
