Hi all! I’m a stay-at-home mother of a 10 year old in California. I’ve wanted to learn Japanese for at least the last ten years, but just never…started (until a week ago). <.<

My main reason for wanting to learn is because I am a dedicated manga reader. I want to buy certain series, but many of them are either not licensed in English, or the version we get is mangled and/or censored. I wish to be able to buy and read the original Japanese.

A secondary reason to learn is because my son is now getting into Japanese television (mostly Super Sentai), and I wish to teach him as much as I can about the language and culture.

In essence, I want to be able to read/watch anything I want without having to wait for a translation or licensing deal.

I’m starting this program having already learned hiragana and katakana, and having known the proper pronunciation for years (from watching a crap-ton of subtitled shows). I really wish to learn sentence structure and grammar…and of course the dreaded kanji. :P

    よろしくおねがいします。
