Hi, I was doing the practice of past tense nouns in Season 2 and I cant undersatna one sentence. Can you help me please?

    http://www.textfugu.com/season-2/past-tense-nouns/practice/

At first exercice the sentence number 12 七人(seven people I think it means) I thought it should be ななり but when I clicked on the audio I heard something totally diferent can you explain me why? is it an exception or is it a mistake or am I little lost?

    Thanks

7人 can be pronounced different ways. ななり might be understood as “Seven people”, but in most cases it’s going to be pronounced either as ななにん or しちにん. You have to keep in mind that 7 has two different pronunciations in Japanese. Ex: 七人の侍(しちにんのさむらい。) which is the name of a movie.

~り is only for ひとり and ふたり, after which it’s ~にん (さんにん、よにん、ごにん、ろくにん、しちにん、etc.)

Come on Koichi, get a move on! There’s only so many times this question can be answered before the world implodes…
